Ingliston.
The rallying action moved to Ingliston near Edinburgh last weekend when the tarmac boys got their turn to shine.
A good day was had by most but it was a bit greasy to start with, as evidenced by the amount of slippery footage on facebook and You Tube. There was however, a serious problem when a car hit an electricity box on the site, which of course hosts the annual Highland Show, so the rally was cut short at that point. Hopefully it’s not an expensive repair. Tarmac venues are hard to find !.
SOSCC crews were:
16. Stuart and Alan Paterson in the Oaktree Garage Subaru. 24th overall.
38. Murray Coulthard and Harry Marchbank in the flying Nova. 25th overall.
74. Chris and Stephen Kemp in their 205 Gti. 62nd overall.
Here’s Stephen’s report from the day after the event. “Had a fantastic time yesterday, mainly dry, only a few spots of rain, disappointing result though after an eventful day! We struggled with intermittent fuel pump problems throughout the day, took a wrong split on Stage 3 (wrong call by navigator!) which lost us about 2min 20secs, damaged a driveshaft, limped out of Stage 6 to find the gearbox wanting to part with the engine. Fixed that and ready to go again only to find the last two stages were cancelled because one of the front runners had sideswiped an electric box making it live!! Glad to get a finish though. Great venue and look forward to returning next year! Regards Stephen
And not forgetting David Crosbie who navigated car 36 to 11th overall!..
