Good Results For SOSCC Members
Sunday 16th August saw SOSCC members competing across the country in various events.
Willie Keaning and Warren Gillespie made the long trip to Anglesey for the Kennings Autotest, another round of the BTRDA, ANWCC Autotest Championship. It appears that a nice coating of gravel on this event made it a surface that Willie was happy to play on with coming out 4th overall and ‘Star of the event’ being quoted. Warren perhaps found it a little more challenging finishing 9th overall. Well done to both.
Ian Anderson and Gaz Starkey made the trip to Brampton for the inaugural Blue Streak Targa Rally in their Mk2 Escort. The guys had a varied day with Gaz having to get out and push as Ian had the car grounded on it’s belly at one point. A good effort and 15th overall was the reward.
Paul Whyte and Kevin Andrews took the Clio Sport to the Blue Streak aswell and with the usual disc braked handbrake being as inefficient as ever, set off with a finish in mind as Kev is just a beginner in the motorsport field. With a little encouragement Kev soon found his feet and by the end of the day the pair had notched up a couple of fastest tests and second fastest on other tests. A good start to Kev’s navigating career with 5th overall and 1st in class.
Harold Tweedie and Roland Proudlock had a varied day with the MG TF. The low ground clearance being the biggest issue. Good to see them back out competing. A respectable 19th overall for the pair.
Anyone who thought about the event shouldn’t think too hard about it for next year. A great little event which will only grow with popularity.
Thanks to Ian and David Crosbie and Drew McLean who travelled to the event to marshal. Once again without the services of volunteers this and other events wouldn’t run.
