Colin McRae Stages. October 5th.

Five SOSCC crews and one navigating member lined up at the start of today’s 45 mile McRae Stages.

The rally had a surprisingly low entry of just 75 cars with 12 Historics tagged on.

The SOSCC entries were as follows:

No. 2. David Bogie & Kevin Rae. Focus, who were first overall and tied up the 2013 SRC title on this event. As has been well documented, David and Kevin have again written rallying history by winning the Scottish Rally Championship title five times in a row, a record that surely will never be repeated. I’m sure all SOSCC members and friends will join us in sending our hearty congratulations to the boys and of course to ProTec, who prepared the Focus to the highest specification throughout the season.

David has of course enjoyed some high profile TV and Radio coverage as this kind of achievement only comes along on very rare occasions. The great thing is that this was a South of Scotland Car Club crew, carrying the club’s name on the car and setting the heather on fire, despite some pretty fierce opposition throughout and of course their fair share of bad luck, in a year where David had to get used to the Focus quickly to give his main opposition, Euan Thorburn, a run for his money.

No doubt the celebrations will go on for some time and it’s to be hoped that SOSCC will be able mark this milestone achievement in a suitable and fitting manner. More on this later.

No. 26. Ian Paterson & Jim Haugh. Impreza. 26th overall.

No 47. James Robertson & Colin Maxwell. Citroen C2 R2. 38th overall.

No. 50 Chuck Blair & Mark Roberts. 205 GTi. 32nd overall.

No. 58 Scott Sloan & David Sloan Snr. Corsa. Hit bridge parapet on stage 2 and retired.

And Mike Curry navigated Robert Harkness in his BMW 316i at No 37 to 29th overall.

Here are Frank Love’s images of the event. Unfortunately Scott and David Sloan are not featured here, as they crashed out on stage 2 , before they got to Frank’s spot!.
