Solway Coast. August 12th.
Three SOSCC crews were out competing on Sunday and all three were among the 24 finishers.
Many thanks to Kevin Sloan and Colin Smith for these fab fotos…

Ian Paterson and Jim Haugh took the Craigie Bank Garage Subaru out at number 3 and had a good run, finishing second overall only to Davie Hardie’s high tech, all singing, all dancing, Scooby by 24 seconds. Ian was happy with the result, although he felt he could have done better in some places. However, he and Jim can be pleased with three fastest stage times and one where they were equal fastest. Meantime the guy who was seeded ahead of them at number two just wasn’t at the races and finished fifth.
Stuart Paterson and Colin Maxwell had the Oaktree Garage Scooby at 10 and took seventh despite a catalogue of difficulties, including breaking a drive shaft on stage five, damaging a break pipe in the process. They then had no centre diff for the last three stages so they were all completed with rear wheel drive only, which Colin described as ‘fun’.
Micky Hunter and James McWhir had the Lada Samara at 26 but managed to finish 15th ansd third in class which Micky was happy with. They did however suffer a squashed exhaust, but that might be because they were briefly in contact with Prestwick Air Traffic Control when they flew very high and landed heavily at the very popular, yump which has since featured in lots of pictures (which will follow here soon). Another problem was a faulty earth wire which had strange effects on the dashboard but knowing Micky, this wouldnt have slowed him at all!.
