Exhausted
Just a quickie from me tonight.
I spent this morning at TOPGEARZ in Huntindon Road Dumfries, where Brian McKean produces a useful service in alloy wheel sales (some of them are amazing) plus tyre sales and also producing bespoke exhausts for picky folk like me. Problem for me is my 1974 MGB that is low slung at the best of times, but when you hammer it along a gravel road on a classic rally, the middle box of the exhaust just wants to grab everything in its way.
So on advice from fellow classic MGB rallyists (there are quite a few of us) I decided to remove the middle box and have the gap filled with pipework that tucked up as far as it is possible to get out of the way of rocks (and in the case of those of us who live in Heathhall, effing speed bumps).
So, having assisted in the ongoing minute-by-minute design and manufacturing process which started off with a straight length of pipe, and witnessed superb skills on a brilliant pipe bending machine, I now have a sturdy and durable stainless system from front to back, that should be more than up to the job. I’ll let you know how I get on with that but in the meantime, may I suggest you speak to Brian about your competition exhaust requirements and if you want a set of alloys, he’s definitely worth a shout.
