From the DBR (David Bogie Rallying) Website
Here’s a direct quote from David’s website;
After a lot of discussions over the winter break, David Bogie has placed an order for a brand new Fiesta R5.
The car should be ready by around May, so after some testing, David and Kevin will compete with the new car from June. The team will continue to use their Ford Focus WRC until then.
David and Kevin are hoping to get some strong results in the R5, before making a full assault on Wales Rally GB in November.
The last time they were up against such big players was during their three outings at Rally Scotland where they proved they could swap times with some of the best drivers in the world. They finished 4th overall in 2010, behind three works teams.
The R5 can’t come quick enough as far as David is concerned:
“I can’t wait to get my hands on it. It’s an incredible car and so much more advanced than the Focus. I’m really looking forward to the new challenge and getting out there with the big boys! The car is being built by M-Sport and their name speaks for itself. I have a great relationship with them and will be down there a lot to see how the car is coming along.”
David has been testing the Focus this week, and despite difficult conditions, the car and driver are all set to go. They will tackle their first event of the season at the Wyedean rally tomorrow, which is the first round of the BTRDA. They will then head north next weekend for the Inverness-based Snowman Rally which is the opening round of the SRC.
Looking forward to tomorrow, David said:
“It feels like it has been a long winter break so we can’t wait to get back out onto the stages. We want to have a good run on the first two season openers. I haven’t competed on the Wyedean rally since 2006 so it will all be new to me again. The stages look quite slippery with a lot of standing water, but we’ll wait and see. I’m really looking forward to it.”
