Snippets.
Wullie Keaning was one several of our regular autotesting members who were absent from our autotest last Sunday, but in his case it was only because he was doing an autotest at Knockhill, run by the Glenrothes Motor Sport Club around the perimeter roads. Wullie would have done better than second overall if it wasn’t for hitting two cones which, on GMSC events, cost 10 seconds as opposed to our 5. No shame to Wullie though, because the event was won by another of our members, Archie Simmonds from Chirnside. Well done both. More of our members were at the Classic Car Show at the NECC. Hopefully they’ll all be back, making an appearance at our Christmas Charity Autotest on December 9th.
We had contact this week from our Scottish contact at the ‘Rallye Monte Carlo Historique’. The rally comes our way again on Saturday January 26th 2013 and the local Welcome Point/Passage Control in Dumfries is again the Cairndale Hotel. SOSCC marshals will be required and its hoped that we will again see a large turnout of competitors making their way to Monte Carlo.
Roy Eide-Johansen and Mark Simpson are the only SOSCC crew taking part in this weekend’s Roger Albert Clark Rally which sadly, wont be visiting Dumfries or our local forests for the first time in several years. Our boys will be in Roy’s Mk I Escort as usual and they will attempt the Sunday ‘Clubman’ event. Good luck lads!.
